This painting illustrates the paradox of life that sees us all as pawns, and as gods. Though we are pawns, and perceived as weak, it illustrates the awesome strength we can still find in our “smallness”. Despite what may look like our diminutive nature, man achieves victory from internal resolve that defies physical appearance. We’re all either pawns or gods depending on the one we choose.
